WOODBEES – Lunabee x Pepe Hiller Collab (First Release)

woodbees-first-batch

i’m very happy to announce my recent collaboration between myself and the very talentd UK artist Lunabee. The hand carved wooden bees, aptly names WOODBEES, were created by myself here in Switzerland out of maple & walnut wood and then shipped over to her to paint up in the lovely Lunabee style. There are 10 bees in total – 9 smaller worker bees (approx 2.5 inches in length) and one large Queen bee (approx 3.5″). The worker bees will be up for $99 each and the Queen for $149.

These are the only bees that are being made – there will be no future series, it’s a one off collaboration and so this is the only chance to grab one of these wooden delights.

The release is being split into two with 5 worker bees being released this Thursday the 10th May at 7pm London time on Lunabees store (http://lunabee.co.uk) and the remaining 4 worker bees and the Queen being released on Thursday the 17th May at the same time and in the same place.

The 5 being released this Thursday and are named (using the group shot) L-R :

Daisy, Totem, Noctus, Dolly and Harley

The photos of the other bees will be released next Monday. In case you can’t wait to see more, you can see some work in progress pictures on flickr.

PLUSH FEVER – DIY Plush Toys

diy-plush-toys-by-pepe

I was totally into plush last week and made my first experiences with a classic Swiss “Bernina” sewing machine from my mother. The first idea was to make a cute jellyfish out of this nice hearty fabric! Have to say, sewing is pretty tricky stuff…but fun!

My first plush toy: Jellyfish “MELVIN” (cotton, batting, glass eyes)

…Now the next toy idea was to do kind of a squared elephant with big red hearts on his ears. So first i did some sketches, then cutting out all the parts out of different fabric and afterwards sewing this little fella together. Love to wander with my toy concepts trough all kind of materials and technics! It is a very inspiring way for me to see new connections and synergies in toy designs.

Little Hearty “HELGO” (fleece, cotton, felt, batting, glass eyes)

Sometimes i think i have to be an true “Apple” geek… ’cause i did his ears without planing anything, exact the size of an iPhone. They would easily fit as a cute cellphone cozys too! ^__^

CRESS CRITTER – Silicone Molding and Resin Casting Toys

cress-critter-molding

I made a short slideshow where you can see the silicone molding process of the CRESS CRITTER.  I have placed the the prototype and the seem line in a slightly unusual position for this two part mold but I had the feeling i should give my silicone-plug-system-technique™ a shot! ;)

Now after the first few resin copies i have to say, casting is going pretty well so far …and I’ve got some wicked ideas for these fresh resin Critters right now! Stay tuned.
